DeCola reaches 150 win milestone; MLAX thwarts Transy

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Head coach Jake DeCola reached the 150 career win milestone as the Albion College men's lacrosse team dominated Transylvania University, 12-4. The Britons held a 7-0 lead after one quarter and never looked back. 

Junior captain Cal Stearns scored a hat trick to lead the Albion offense. Brendan Mercier, Andrew Miller and Mathieu Champoux all recorded two goals, while Luke Schuemann added a pair of assists. 

After the seven goal first period, the Pioneers scored twice in the second quarter. Out of the half, Albion added their final five goals in the third quarter. 

Freshman Connor Laidlaw was an efficient 12 of 18 on faceoffs and picked up six ground balls. Junior defenseman Ben Schollett had a career day, causing four turnovers and picked up seven ground balls. 

Caleb Howell tallied 15 saves in goal in 54 minutes of action. Jack Erickson came in for the final six minutes, registering a pair of saves. 

On the clear, Albion was 27 of 30. The Britons limited Transylvania in extra man opportunities, as the hosts converted just one of five opportunities.

On Saturday, the Brits head to The College of Wooster for a 3 p.m. faceoff.
