Emery, White go yard in sweep of Olivet

ALBION – Seven combined RBI from Braeden Emery and Gavin White led the Albion College baseball team to the series sweep of Olivet in a 10-3 win. Emery crushed a grand slam and White drove in three runs, helping the Brits improve to 13-14 overall. 

White roped a double to center top drive in the first two Albion runs, before a Comet error allowed a third to score in the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth, the Britons got their fourth run, courtesy of a sac fly from Evan Schuster.

In the top of the seventh, Olivet struck for two runs. With two on and two out, Carson Dunn tracked down a ball deep in left, making the catch on the run and into the fence to preserve the lead and swing the momentum into Albion's favor. 

The Brits exploded for six runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by a pair of home runs. Kris Stojanovski drove in Dunn to give the hosts a 5-2 advantage. The big blow came off the bat of Emery who crushed a grand slam to left center. The blast was the fifth year's fourth of the season and team-leading 26th RBI. White followed with a solo shot to left for a 10-2 cushion. 

Zak Kelly (ND) threw four strong innings, striking out three and allowing no runs. Brendan Schultz (1-1) tossed three frames, allowing no earned runs. 

Albion heads to Hope on Friday for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
