Men's lacrosse advances to MIAA Semifinals

ALBION – In their Alumni Field finale, the No. 3 seeded Albion College men's lacrosse team knocked off No. 6 seed Kalamazoo College, 11-8. A four point day by Brendan Mercier helped Albion advance to the MIAA Semifinals.

Fifth year Nathan Vesper opened the scoring in his final home game off a pass from Robbie Dameron. Fabrizio Raciti found Andrew Miller three minutes later for a 2-0 lead. A Kalamazoo goal was answered by Mercier's first, seeing the hosts hold a 3-1 lead after one.

Miller netted a man-up goal to start the second period scoring. Miller, Cal Stearns and Luke Schuemann all added goals in the second quarter. At the half, the Britons held a 7-3 advantage over the Hornets.

Two more goals from Mercier in the second half, along with strikes by Keegan Pastor and Joey Pipesh, helped Albion secure the win. Raciti finished with three assists in the win.

Freshman Connor Laidlaw was 10 of 14 at the X with six ground balls. Logan Bride also picked up six ground balls for the Britons.

Carter Kildea was solid defensively, causing a game-high five turnovers.

In goal, Jack Erickson and Caleb Howell combined to make 13 saves.

Albion will head to No. 2 seed Adrian College on Tuesday for the MIAA Semifinals. A game time is yet to be determined.
