ALBION, Mich. -- The wins keep on rolling in for the Albion women's soccer team.
Fresh off a 4-1 victory over Heidelberg last Saturday for head coach
Ron Rainey's 250th career victory, the Britons fended off a perennial power in the Ohio Athletic Conference, Ohio Northern, 2-0, at Alumni Field, who won the conference last season.
It marked just the second win for Albion against Ohio Northern in the seven all-time matchups with the Polar Bears and first since 2017, which was the only match conducted at Alumni Field in series history.
Mia Czarnowski chipped in first, as she scored just under four minutes into the match on an assist from
Diane Hurtado to make it 1-0.
Stout defense on both sides kept it 1-0 through the half, but Albion found the back of the net again in the 77th minute on a
Claire Gorno goal that hit off the top crossbar, then the left one and barely snuck in on an initial pass from
Lilyana Molby.
The Britons outshot the Polar Bears, 13-11, and registered four saves between
Maddie Welsh and
Marleigh Chapman.Â
