ALBION, Mich. -- A late goal by
Ceci Irwin with 14 minutes left charged the Albion women's soccer team past Mount Union, 2-1, in their final non-conference regular season match.
Irwin found the back of the net on a header into the left corner of the net on a pass from
Mia Czarnowski for the game-winner.
The Britons struck first 18 minutes into the match on another header, as
Diane Hurtado scored on a corner kick pass in the box from
Bella Fabrizio.
Mount Union tied it up 17 minutes into the second half, but steady defense and offensive sets provided the Britons with Irwin's game-winning opportunity.
Albion outshot the Purple Raiders, 15-12, and had nine corner kicks compared to Mount Union's three.Â
Maddie Welsh made three saves in net during the first half, while
Marleigh Chapman notched one in the second.
