ALBION, Mich. -- The five-match winning streak came to an end.
After outscoring opponents, 13-2, during that timeframe, the Albion women's soccer team fell to Trine, 1-0, in their MIAA opener.
The Britons had their best chances to score in the first half.
In the 41st minute, they rattled off two shots in a five-second span that were blocked and then a goalkeeper save in the low center of the net.
One minute later,
Ceci Irwin had an open opportunity that went just wide to the left.
Trine got their goal in the second half coming in the 68th minute on a free kick pass that dribbled in front of the net. The Thunder capitalized, as a host of offensive players crowded in the box and buried it in the lower left corner.
The Thunder held the shot advantage, 17-4, and also had eight corner kick opportunities compared to none for Albion.
