FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- After finishing as a co-medalist at the MIAA Jamboree No. 2, Charlie Dierkes of the Albion College men's golf team was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week. 

The Highland, Michigan, native earned the weekly honor after firing a 71 (-1) at the Medalist Golf Club last week to finish tied atop the leaderboard at the second MIAA Jamboree of the fall season. The first-year talent's excellent round marked the first time an Albion golfer medaled at an MIAA Jamboree since Justin Kapke paced in 2017 season.

For Dierkes, the performance was both a career-low score and the first top-five finish of his career. 

Dierkes and the Britons return to the course for MIAA Jamboree No. 3 on Saturday, October 4. The round is set to begin at 10:30 am at Pine River Country Club in Alma, Michigan.
