Albion, Mich. - The Albion Women's Soccer team opened conference with a 6-2 victory over the Adrian Bulldogs.
Ceci Irwin recorded a hat trick for the Brits, and
Chloe Salo added in two goals.
Claire Gorno would lead the Brits with four shots, while
Marleigh Chapman and
Libby Wisniewski would combine for four saves.
The Bulldogs would strike first in the 22nd minute as the ball would find the top corner of the goal. The Brits would respond with a goal of their own by Irwin off a pass from
Mia Czarnowski just outside of the goalie box in the 32nd minute. Just seconds before the teams would head into half,
Eva Armbruster would find a gap and score with just four seconds left to play in the opening half. The Brits would head into half up 2-1.
The Brits would keep their offensive momentum with Salo finding the goal for the first time this season off the pass from
Brooklyn Zeleny in the 53rd minute. Not even five minutes later, Salo would find the goal a second time with
Claire Gorno assisting on the goal in the 58th minute to give the Brits a 4-1 lead. The Brits would continue the offensive attack as Irwin would get the ball from
Diane Hurtado just outside the box and find the net in the 78th minute to give the Brits a 5-1 lead. Irwin would find another gap in the Bulldogs defense and Armbruster would get her the ball to allow Irwin to score her third goal of the day with just nine minutes left in the game. The Bulldogs would score in the 83rd minute off a penalty kick. The Brits would hold strong and win the game 6-2.
The Britons return to action on Tuesday October 6th as the host the Flying Dutch of Hope at 7 PM.
