FRANKLIN, Ind. — Arriving back from Florida after going 5-1 down south, the Albion baseball team dropped both games to Franklin, 14-5 and 11-6, in Indiana.
Game 1
The Grizzlies struck first in the opening frame on an error, but Albion got two back in the third on a
Max Holser double and a
Gavin White single.
Franklin tacked one on in the home half of the inning, but
Jonjay Arreazola hit an RBI single in the fourth to give the Britons back the lead.
The Grizzlies took the lead for good in the fourth with three runs and added another off a home run in the fifth to make the score 6-3.
Albion made it a one-run game in the sixth courtesy of an Arreazola single and error. However, Franklin proceeded to score the game's final eight runs spread across the seventh and eighth innings.
Jack LaPorte went 3-for-4 at the dish, while starter
Daniel Bruzdewicz struck out six in six innings.
Game 2
This time, Albion struck first in the first with a run off an error. The Grizzlies then hit a two-run shot in the home half of the frame to make it 2-1.
Franklin continued to pile on runs in the next four innings to take a 7-1 advantage before
Brady Caswell hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to chip away at the deficit.
The Grizzlies got a run back on a steal in the sixth, but Albion made the game interesting in the seventh. Arrezola reached on an error to score
Logan DeVos and then
Drew Ribble touched the plate off a wild pitch to bring it to 8-4.
A
Jack LaPorte single made it a three-run game, and the Britons got another run in off a wild pitch when LaPorte scored to make it an 8-6 ballgame.
However, Franklin put the nail in the coffin with a three-run homer in the seventh to seal the victory.
White went 3-for-5 at the plate, while
Zak Kelly took the loss for the Britons on the mound.
