Baseball Loses Back-and-Forth Battle With Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. — In a series finale against Franklin that resulted in four ties and three lead changes, the Albion baseball team fell to the host Grizzlies, 11-9, to end their three-game series.

Carter Stahl powered a solo shot to get the Britons on the board in the second, and Ribble reached on an error to score Tyler Murphy for a 2-0 lead in the same frame.

The Grizzlies got their first four runs of the game in the third, but Albion proceeded to knot the game at 4-4 in the fourth with another run scoring via an error and an additional one on a wild pitch.

Franklin retook the lead courtesy of a three run fourth inning. However, the Britons crept back into the game on a Jack LaPorte solo homer in the fifth, a Colin Terrill dinger in the sixth and a Max Holser single in the same inning to tie it up at 7-7.

The Grizzlies got a one-run advantage in the seventh on a passed ball, but Evan Schuster came up big in the eighth with a two-run blast to give the visitors a 9-8 lead.

However, it was all Franklin from there as they hit a single to tie and a two-RBI double to win it in the home half of the frame.

LaPorte went 3-for-4 at the plate to pace the Britons, while Brendan Schultz started four innings on the bump and recorded six strikeouts.
