Britons Use Timely Hitting to Down Heidelberg in Peaceful Valley

TIFFIN, Ohio — Timeliness was a theme for the Albion baseball team in Peaceful Valley.

It led them to an 8-6 victory over Heidelberg.

Tyler Murphy singled home a run to get the Britons on the board in the fourth. A two-RBI base hit in the home half of the frame put the Student Princes in front, 2-1.

Gavin White would provide a timely RBI triple to knot the game up in the fifth, and Logan DeVos delivered a two-run blast to left field in the sixth.

Three more runs came across the dish for the Britons in the seventh on a groundout, single and sacrifice fly to make it 7-2.

Albion would add one more run in the ninth on a wild pitch for good measure.

Heidelberg made it interesting in the home half of the frame. With two on and nobody out, a triple was cranked to left center to plate two runs. The next at bat resulted in an RBI double to make it 8-5.

Miles Frank came in for Ian Balint and forced two outs before the Student Princes tacked on one more score on a wild pitch. Frank closed the door with a strikeout looking and earned the save.

White went 3-for-5 at the plate, while DeVos and Evan Schuster provided two hits each. Jack Renner earned the victory on the mound for the Britons by pitching seven strong innings of three-hit, two-run baseball with three strikeouts.
