HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Albion women's track & field team competed at Hillsdale's GINA Relays. It was the 56th year of the competition over a course of three days. As a team, the Britons placed 13
th of 18 teams with 25.5 points.
During the Friday session, freshman
Malea Wourman placed 15
th in the 400m (58.26) to break Avery Campbell's program record set back in 2023.
That same day,
Taylor Adams took 10
th in the open section of the 800m (2:34.45), while
Bianca Baird placed sixth in the open section of the 1,500m (4:58.29).
In the throwing events,
Leilani Casteele competed in the open sections of both the discus and shot put. The senior placed 20
th in discus (30.38m) and 12
th in shot put (10.12m).
Mia Czarnowski leapt into Albion's top 10 list with a long jump of 5.43m to place eighth in the field and fifth in Briton history in the event.
Chelsea Thelen was 12
th in the high jump (1.45m) to round out the Albion competitors for the day.
On Thursday,
Veronica Paniccia ran eighth in the open section of the 3,000m steeplechase (13:36.52), while
Serena Arnold was 18
th in the open section of the 5,000m (20:09.30). Baird took third in the 10,000m (39:34.69) that day as well.
During the final day of competition, Czarnowski ran eighth in the 200m (26.60) while
Brianna Bennett took 13
th in the 400m hurdles (1:12.20).
Both relays placed in the top five. The 4x100m relay squad of Czarnowski,
Paige Allis,
Caragh Dwyer and Wourman were fifth with a time of 50.40, while the 4x400m quartet of
Maggie Sorrelle, Dwyer, Bennett and Wourman was fourth (4:15.80).
In the open section of the pole vault,
Mia Carone placed seventh (3.12m) while Casteele was sixth in the open section of the hammer throw (39.63m).
Riley Adams took 14
th in the javelin (24.71m) to round out the Briton competitors.
