Men's Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day With Victory Over Wittenberg

ALBION, Mich. — The Albion men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a 15-8 non-conference victory over Wittenberg at Alumni Field.

Before the game, Cal Stearns, Will Richardson, Ben Schollett and Logan Bride were honored for their contributions to the program over the last four years.

It was fitting that the contest's first goal was senior-to-senior, with Bride feeding Stearns 35 seconds in.

Luke Schuemann added two more while Logan Mozingo and Stearns tacked on one each for a 5-0 lead.

The Tigers put two on the board, but Mozingo added one more to close out the quarter ahead 6-2.

Wittenberg notched a goal with 6:45 left in the second to make it a three-score game, but Mozingo, Stearns and Ethan Barker answered with goals of their own to close out the half up 9-3.

Joey Pipesh opened the third with a score, and 14 seconds later this time Stearns passed it up to Bride who notched his fourth goal in his five games played this year to make it an 11-3 contest.

Schuemann cashed in to close out the Britons' scoring in the third, while the Tigers tacked one more on as Albion held onto a 12-4 advantage at the period's end.

A combined seven goals were scored in the fourth, with the Britons notching three of them all from different players — Mathieu Champoux, Stearns and Jack Holway.

Stearns posted four goals, while Mozingo and Schuemann each had hat tricks, while Carter Kildea caused four turnovers. Caleb Howell made 12 saves playing all 60 minutes in net. The Britons also held the ground ball advantage, 42-29, over the Tigers.
