Baseball Wins Another Extra-Inning Contest vs. Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. — A three-run 10th inning by the Albion baseball team against Trine sealed their 8-5 victory to win each of their three games vs. the Thunder.

Tied 4-4 heading into ninth, Tyler Murphy hit a sacrifice bunt that scored Jack LaPorte to take a one-run lead. However, Trine knotted the game up on an RBI double to push the game to extra innings.

From there, it was all Britons as Lucas Payne singled through the left side which proved to be the winning score. Gavin White was hit by a pitch with bases loaded, and Carter Stahl hit a sacrifice fly for the insurance runs.

Jack Renner, who pitched the final four innings, shut the door with a 1-2-3 bottom frame to seal the victory.

Carter Stahl got Albion on the board in the first with a single. Trine then plated two runs on a single and fielder's choice to take a 2-1 lead.

The score remained the same until the fifth inning when White doubled to right centerfield to tie the game at two apiece.

The Thunder retook the lead once more in the home half of the frame with a triple and passed ball, but Albion cut the deficit to one run in the seventh on a Stahl single.

Max Holser then scored on a wild pitch in the eighth to tie the game at 4-4 and set up the ninth inning and beyond.

Albion notched six hits, while Stahl had two and three RBI. Quinn Lewis started the first five frames and struck out five batters, while Zak Kelly threw an inning in relief before Renner came in.
