ALBION, Mich. — The Albion baseball team fell to Adrian, 16-7, at Champions Stadium in their second of three single games against the Bulldogs.
Adrian built an 8-0 advantage into the sixth. They plated a run in the first on a sacrifice fly, five in the third on two doubles, a single and a homer, one on the fifth on a solo shot and one in the sixth on another sacrifice fly.
The Britons got their offense rolling in the home half of the sixth with a five-run frame.
Max Holser started it off with an RBI-single. Then,
Logan DeVos cranked a three-run bomb to left field that went off the scoreboard to make it a four-run deficit.
Jack LaPorte tacked on another with a double to inch within three.
However, Adrian added five more runs in the seventh — two on solo homers and three on singles — to increase their lead to 13-5.
The Bulldogs would later tack on a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly and two in the ninth on another homer to left field.
Albion notched two runs of their own in the ninth courtesy of singles from
Carter Stahl and
Lucas Payne.
Eight batters recorded a hit for Albion, who tallied 13 as a team. White was 3-for-4 at the dish, while LaPorte, Stahl and Payne each had multi-hit games.
Jack Renner got the start on the mound and pitched 2.2 innings, while
Zak Kelly got the loss after throwing the next 3.1 innings with four strikeouts.
Miles Frank and
Alex Banghart also saw time on the bump.

Albion will have a three-game weekend series against Hope from April 10-11. They will start with a single game at home against the Flying Dutch on the 10th at 4 p.m. before a doubleheader in Holland the following day at 1 and 4 p.m.
