Albion, Mich. - The Albion Football team fell to #2 Wheaton with a final score of 45-3.
Davis Crossman would lead the Brits going 13-26 for 109 yards through the air and
Alex Trudell would add 54 yards on the ground.
Braden Fracassi would lead the team with four receptions, resulting in 28 yards, however
Ethan Barker lead the receivers with 34 yards. On the defensive side,
Desean Jenkins lead the team with 10 tackles, while Michael Platter added seven, including two for a loss of 13 yards, a sack for a loss of nine yards, and forced a fumble.
Kaidon Boyd and
Devon Buskin Jr. each added 2 pass breaks up as well.
The Thunder would come out rolling, scoring 18 unanswered points in the first quarter. The Britons would have just two possession as Wheaton would use the clock on their drives. The Briton defense would not give up as
Michael Plater forced a fumble, that
Jordan Davenport would recover, early in the second as the Thunder were knocking on door of another touchdown. Deep in their own territory
Alex Trudell would look to make something happen with a 19 yard run, however the Thunder defense held tough and the Britons were forced to come away empty again. The Thunder would add to their lead, making it 25-0, midway through the 2nd quarter. Crossman would complete back to back 11-yard passes to
Braden Fracassi and
Nolan Carruthers to get the offense moving, however the Thunder defense continued to prove tough as the Brits were forced to punt. The Brits defense was not backing down, as they held the Thunder to their first three and out of the game, giving their offense the momentum to go get on the scoreboard. Crossman would find
Ethan Barker for a 32 yard completion, brings the Brits within the Thunder 15 for the first time. The Thunder would continue their strong defense, but
Spencer Berkeypile would get the Brits on the board with a 30 yard field goal, with two minutes remaining in the half. The Thunder would respond with their own field goal, to lead the Brits 28-3 at the half.
Both defenses would come out the half fighting. Neither team would add to the scoreboard through the third quarter. The Thunder would control the clock for much of the fourth quarter, with Albion having just two drives, and the second not coming till 2:30 remained on the clock. The Brits would go for it on fourth down, but would come up short and the Thunder would take the Britons down 45-3.
The Britons head on the road to Terre Haute, IN to take on the Fightin' Engineers of Rose-Hulman on Saturday September 19th, at 1 PM.
