Albion, Mich. - The Women's Soccer Team stunned Manchester with a 6-1 victory on Wednesday night.
Kelsi Green led the Britons with an impressive four goals in just 42 minutes of playing.
The Britons first goal would come just 90 seconds into the game when Green would find a gap and just outside the goalie box and find the net over the Spartans goalies head. The Britons would take 12 more shots, six of them being on goal, before Chole Salo would find Green just outside the penalty arc for her second goal of the night in the 21st minute. The Britons would take six more shots looking to extend their lead before half, with
Belle Beman and
Ceci Irwin getting extremely close in the final minutes of the half, but a team save would force the Britons to go into the half leading 2-0. The Britons took 22 shots in the opening period and allowed the Spartans to take just one.
The Britons offense would look to continue what they did in the first half. The Brits would come out with four shots on goal, before
Diane Hurtado would find Green in the box for her third goal of the night in the 56th minute. Just two and a half minutes later
Lilyana Molby would find Green just outside the box and Green would put the ball in for the fourth time! Coach
Ron Rainey would switch the field entirely subbing in 10 players in the 62nd minute. These changes did not slow the Briton offense. Micaela Holhbein would get in on the action scoring her first goal of the season in the 72nd minute. The Spartans would get their lone goal of the game in th 78th minute. The Britons responded with another goal.
Ollie Rozell would find
Emma Malkowski for her first collegiate goal in the 85th minute.
The Britons would out shoot the Spartans 33-4, with just one Spartan shot being on goal compared to the Britons 22 on goal. The Brits also took 12 corner kicks to Manchester's lone one.
The Britons return to action on Sunday September 20th as they travel to take on the Comets of Capital at 3:00 PM.
