Frustrating Stretch Continues

Box Score

ALMA, Mich. – A frustrating stretch continued for the Albion College men's soccer team Wednesday with a 2-1 overtime loss to Alma College. Albion has not won its Sept. 4, and the margin has been a single goal its each of its last four losses.

Albion produced the first two shots in the contest, and Antonio Pacifico's header forced Alma goalkeeper Graham Wallace to make a save. Alma scored the first goal of the match when Julian Birge struck in the 12th minute.

Mike Tolkacz scored the equalizer in the 37th minute. Tolkacz earned a corner kick when Wallace hit his header out of play. Tolkacz placed a shot into the lower corner of the goal off the kick. Charles Micunek assisted on the play.

Alma held a 12-5 advantage in shots in the final 49 minutes. Michael Smith got his head on Matt Sovis' crossing pass for the game-winning score.

Tolkacz and Pacifico each placed two shots on goal for Albion.

Albion will play on the road again Saturday when it challenges the nationally-ranked team from Olivet College.
