Men's Basketball Begins Homestand

Albion College continues its non-league slate at 6 p.m. Saturday by challenging Elmhurst College from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. This is the start of a three-game homestand for the Britons who will host Kenyon College and North Park University in the weeks leading up to final examinations.

A 66-58 loss at Heidelberg University on Wednesday dropped Albion to 2-3 on the young season. Albion led 23-22 with five minutes left in the first half, but Heidelberg closed the period on a 14-3 run. Lawrence Ridgell became the second Briton to score 20 points in a game this season when he scored on 8-of-14 shots from the field. Eric Evans added 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field.

Jordan Herron was an all-tournament pick in the Mike Rokicki Community Versus Cancer Classic last weekend. He recorded his first career double-double against Franklin College and poured in 20 points in the victory over Purdue North Central.

Elmhurst brings a 0-3 record into today's game, but its last two games have been decided by less than five points. The Blue Jays started the season Nov. 15 with a 68-56 loss to Carleton College. The University of Dubuque handed Elmhurst a 72-71 setback in overtime. Concordia (Wis.) University dropped Elmhurst, 74-70, Thursday night.

Elmhurst held a double-digit lead over Concordia, but started the second half on a 14-0 run. Nick Sanford led Elmhurst with a double-double in the loss, totaling a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds. Sanford shot 7-of-14 from the floor and also blocked two shots. Alex Morgunov came off the bench to score 14 points while shooting 7-of-14.
