Evans Gains All-Classic Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Case Western Reserve University went on a 6-1 spurt to break a tie at 74 and send Albion College to a 90-82 loss on the second day of the Bill Sudeck Holiday Classic.

The contest featured 19 lead changes and the score was tied 16 times until the Spartans went on the decisive run with less than 4 ½ minutes remaining in regulation. Austin Fowler started the rally by making a pair of free throws after pulling down an offensive rebound. Fowler helped Case Western hold off the Britons by tacking on a pair of baskets and two free throws in the final two minutes. Jimmy Holman added a pair of baskets, two free throws and an assist down the stretch.

Fowler, who knocked down 9-of-15 shots from the field and all six of his free throws, led all players with 25 points. He added 10 rebounds to complete the double-double. Holman produced 13 points and seven assists in 21 minutes off the bench.

Albion shot 57 percent from the field – its second-best performance in a game this season – and it committed just 13 turnovers. Jordan Herron and Eric Evans matched their career-highs of 20 and 19 points, respectively. The first-year pair combined to hit on 15-of-19 shots from the field.

Zach Hurth had one of his best games of the season with 12 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Carter Elliott achieved a season-high with 11 points and Anthony Wash finished with 10.

Albion will take a 4-7 record into its Jan. 3 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener at Olivet College.
