ROCHESTER, Mich. – Erin Giannotta, Albion College's senior pitcher from Saint Clair Shores, pitched all 14 innings and she received support from a lineup that enjoyed its best day of the season as the Britons earned 6-0 and 8-4 victories over Rochester College in non-league softball action at Rochester High School.

Giannotta and Rochester's Paige Henley were dominant at the start of game one. Giannotta retired the first eight Rochester batters in order before yielding a two-out single to Vivian Monroy in the third. Henley threw four perfect innings, and Alyssa Castillo (Hamilton) ignited Albion's first scoring threat with a leadoff single in the fifth. Castillo scored on a single by Claire Cannon (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley).

Samantha Kolling (Moncolva, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) launched a two-out homerun in the sixth and she plated two more runs with a double in the seventh.

Giannotta finished game one with a four-hit shutout with three strikeouts.

Rochester's first two batters of game two slugged a homerun and a double as Albion fell behind 2-0. Albion countered by scoring three times in the second as Kacey Anderson (Elk Rapids), Kara Wandrie (Clarkston), and Jessica Koehler (Ida/Marine City West) all produced RBI singles.

Albion added a run in the third and two more in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead to the seventh. Kolling and Castillo clubbed back-to-back homeruns to start the seventh as Albion won going away.

The Britons collected 19 hits on the day. Castillo went 5-for-8 with three runs scored and Kolling went 4-for-8 with two doubles, two homeruns, four RBI and three runs scored. Wandrie produced three hits and Koehler collected two hits and two walks.

Albion, 6-12 overall, is scheduled to continue non-league play Friday with a doubleheader at Concordia University.
