Kilpatrick Scores Three Goals in Men's Lacrosse Match

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – Albion Coach Jake DeCola has maintained his team is just one or two players shy of having the depth the Britons need to play effectively for 60 minutes. The Britons' home finale against Carthage College was an exhibit supporting DeCola's case. Tyler Kilpatrick (Rochester Hills/Rochester Adams) scored twice as Albion built a 4-1 lead, but Carthage outscored Albion 10-2 in the second half to send the Britons to a 12-6 setback.

Albion dominated the first quarter statistically, ripping eight shots, picking up 14 groundballs, and winning four of five face-offs.

Albion maintained a 5-3 lead when Dan Genord (Ann Arbor/Gabriel Richard) scored five minutes into the third quarter. Carthage scored four times in a four-minute window of the third to build a 7-5 margin. Kilpatrick's third goal of the contest pulled Albion within a goal heading into the fourth quarter.

Peter Slefinger scored two goals and Seth Molek dished out three assists for the Red Men in the fourth quarter.

Joel Hedemark (Chesterfield/L'Anse Creuse North) dished out three assists for Albion in the contest. Goalkeeper Kyle Formanczyk (Chesterfield/L'Anse Creuse North) stopped 10 shots.

Albion will complete the 2012 campaign with an April 29 match at Aurora.

Albion's Board of Trustees has authorized fundraising for the second phase of athletic facility improvements, including the construction of a soccer/lacrosse competition facility, the relocation of softball's Dempsey Field, the reconfiguration of baseball's Frank Joranko Field, and the development of a centrally located plaza that will serve as a gathering space for players and fans.
