OLIVET, Mich. – Samantha Kolling (Monclova, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) and Kaitlyn Downey (Macomb/Dakota) both produced two hits and runs batted in for Albion College in game two, but it was not enough to lift Albion College to victory against Olivet College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball action. Olivet completed the sweep of the Britons by scores of 8-0 in five innings and 5-2.

Kara Wandrie (Clarkston) slugged a leadoff double in the first inning of game two. After a sacrifice bunt, Wandrie scored on Kolling's single. Kolling drew a one-out walk in the third and she crossed the plate on Downey's hit.

Albion's 2-0 lead evaporated as Olivet plated three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Olivet scored seven times in the second to pull away for the game one victory. Wandrie tried to provide an early spark for the Britons as she hit a leadoff double, but she was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple. Albion also got a leadoff single from Claire Cannon (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley) in the second but she was erased on a double play and Albion failed to score even though the next two batters drew walks. Albion managed only one hit – a two-out single by Sophie Nielsen (Niles)after the second inning.

Albion has two MIAA doubleheaders remaining, a April 25 date at Hope College and a April 28 home date with Trine University.
