Box Score 1 ALBION, Mich. – Albion College paused to recognize the contributions of seniors Claire Cannon (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley), Alyssa Castillo (Hamilton), Erin Giannotta (Saint Clair Shores/Regina), Samantha Kolling (Monclova, Ohio/Anthony Wayne), Alyssa Tropea (Bloomfield Hills/Seaholm), and Kara Wandrie (Clarkston) as it closed the softball season with 6-0 and 9-5 losses to Trine University at Dempsey Field.
Trine pitcher Andi Gasco threw a two-hit shutout in game one. Taylor Tuszynski (Bridgman) slapped a double to the left-center gap, and Kolling collected an infield single.
Albion's first four batters reached in game two and it produced three runs. Kolling and Castillo contributed RBI singles. Kolling's two-run homerun – her fourth of the season – cut Albion's deficit to 6-5 in the fifth. Trine answered Kolling's shot with three runs in its half of the fifth.
Kolling and Castillo both went 3-for-6 at the plate in their final collegiate doubleheader. Jessica Koehler (Ira/Marine City) and Cannon added two hits apiece.
