ELMHURST, Ill. – Albion College launched the volleyball season with four-set losses to Carleton College and Lake Forest College on the opening day of competition in the Elmhurst College Invitational.

Halle Thom made an impressive collegiate debut in the 25-14, 23-25, 13-25, 18-25 loss to Carleton. The first-year outside hitter from Okemos produced 17 kills while posting a .469 hitting percentage. Candace Cullen, a Forest Hills Central product making her collegiate debut, dished out 28 assists. Haley Gitre and Hannah Bez collected 12 digs apiece.

Albion took the third set from Lake Forest. The scores were 22-25, 11-25, 25-21, 20-25.

Albion is scheduled to challenge Whitman College and St. Norbert College in Saturday action.
