ALBION, Mich. - Albion Coach Jerry Block was excited to have his best defensive lineup on the field for the first time this season as the Britons jumped into Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action against Alma College.

Goalkeeper Andrew Bobowski reaggravated a shoulder injury seven minutes into the second half and one of the defenders picked up a red card.

Despite playing with 10 men, Albion was able to frustrate the Alma forwards was sweeping away all of the long passes sent up the field. Ryan Kovach, however, scored his first goal of the season on a set piece with 2:23 left to send the Britons to a bitter 1-0 setback.

Albion managed seven shots (three on goal) in the contest. Kurt Miller placed both of his shots on frame.

Albion will take a break from league play at 2:30 p.m. Saturday when it challenges Carthage (Wis.) College.
