ALBION, Mich. – Albion rallied to take the third set from Trine University, and it held a 17-12 lead in the fourth set, but the Britons were unable to complete the comeback in a four-set loss. Trine won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball match by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 25-19.

Albion scored four in a row to take a 20-19 lead in the first set. The teams then traded rallies and the score reached a tie at 22. Trine served out the set as Taylor Rabel produced a kill, Albion had a hitting error and Erin Lewis served up an ace.

Trine reeled off a three-point run to erase Albion's 11-10 lead in the second set. The Thunder got a kill and a block from Carly Searles in the run.

Albion trailed 3-1 early in the third set. Lauren Outwater scored kills on consecutive points to put Alion in front 9-6. Jalyn Ingalls, one of the two Albion seniors playing in their final match at Kresge Gymnasium, produced a kill as the margin expanded to 11-6.

Albion's lead in the fourth set melted as Rabel knocked down kills on consecutive points and the Britons yielded a service ace. Rabel produced three more kills as Trine broke out to a 22-18 lead and it went on to complete the match.

Outwater and Halle Thom led Albion with 16 and 12 kills, respectively. Ingalls finished with seven kills, three blocks and two assists, Haley Gitre, the other Albion senior, led the defensive effort with 24 digs.

Rabel led all players with 19 kills.

Albion will complete the season Friday at Hope.
