MARION, Ind. – The temperature Saturday were not favorable for athletes looking to achieve personal best performances, but the members of the Albion College track & field team were undeterred as the competed in the Polar Bear Invitational at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Kristin Nelson tied her school record of 36' 3" in winning the triple jump. She finished second in the long jump, fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, fifth in the javelin and sixth in the 200 meters.
Monique Langston turned in personal best times in the sprints. She reached the finish of the 200 meters in 27.99 seconds.
Megan Wickens was not to be outdone in the 5,000, finishing her race with a personal-best effort of 19 minutes, 32 seconds. Rachel Derocher's time of 18:47 was a season-best.
While not a personal record, Ashley Miracle ran what Coach Lance Coleman called a "breakthrough race" in the 800 meters.
Albion athletes will travel to Saint Louis, Mo., next Saturday for an invitational at Washington University.
