Nelson Finishes Fourth In First Career Heptathlon

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Kristin Nelson finished fourth out of 14 athletes competing in the heptathlon in the Washington University Invitational.

Nelson, an Albion College senior, was competing in a heptathlon for the first time in her career. Her Saturday performances included taking second in the 800 meters (2:28.36) and javelin (115' 3") and third in the long jump (17' 7"). She produced her best performances in the javelin and long jump on the final attempt.

Coach Lance Coleman said Nelson's 4,313 points was the seventh-best total by any Division III athlete this season as of Saturday night.

Ashley Miracle, another senior on the roster, was fourth out of 77 runners in the 800 meters. She reached the finish line in 2:21.12.

Albion continues competition in invitational meets April 6 when it travels to Delaware, Ohio, for the Marv Frye Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University.
