ALBION, Mich. – Nicole Romain collected two of Albion College's three hits on the day as the Britons lost a pair of five-inning softball games to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Alma College at Dempsey Field. The scores were 9-0 and 9-1.

In game one, Albion pitcher Sarah Bucholz limited Alma to two runs over the first four innings, but the Scots tacked on seven runs in the fifth. Alma pitcher Louise Rezmer dominated the Albion batters with 11 strikeouts. Michelle Norgren and Kacey Anderson were Albion's only base runners. Norgren drew a walk and Anderson reached base on an error.

Romain scored Albion's run in game two. She singled with one out in the fourth inning and advanced to third on a throwing error when Alma's third baseman tried to force Romain at second on a ground ball off Norgren's bat. Romain scored on Anderson's groundout.

Albion completes the first week of league play with a Saturday doubleheader at Saint Mary's College.
