Box Score ALBION, Mich. – Albion College ripped off a seven-point run in the fifth set to stave off a furious rally by Adrian College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball match inside Kresge Gymnasium. Albion won the match 25-14, 25-14, 18-25, 21-25, 15-8 for its first win over a MIAA rival since 2009.
Hitting errors on consecutive points gave Albion a 4-2 lead in the fifth set. Halle Thom produced her only kills of the set to extend the margin to 5-2.
Adrian got a kill from Chelsea Jordan to stop the Britons' rally momentarily, but the Bulldogs committed errors on five consecutive points as Albion took a commanding 12-3 lead.
Albion hit .333 and .346 in the first two sets as it looked to be on its way to an easy victory. Points became harder to come by in the third and fourth sets as Adrian clawed its way to tie the match.
Thom paced a balanced Albion attack with 13 kills. Lauren Outwater and Jalyn Ingalls added 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Ingalls also produced five blocks, while Caitlin McClorey knocked down four blocks.
