Box Score GAMBIER, Ohio – Albion College cut the deficit to a single goal on three occasions in the second half, but that was as close as it got in a 7-6 loss to Kenyon College in non-league men's lacrosse action.
Fritz Waine scored three times as Kenyon held a 5-2 lead at halftime.
Kevin O'Grady and Zach Hubbell scored unassisted goals in a 93-second span of the third quarter to draw Albion within 5-4 midway through the third quarter.
Nicky Lenard produced the goal each time Kenyon's lead was threatened in the second half. Lenard scored 10 seconds after Hubbell's tally as Kenyon maintained a 6-4 edge. His fourth-quarter tally made the score 7-5.
Alexander Dziewit scored to make the score 7-6 with 4:15 remaining in regulation. Albion pressed for the equalizer in the final minute, but it came up empty on two shots by Hubbell and two more by O'Grady.
Albion, 1-1 on the young season, continues non-league play Feb. 22 with a contest against Aurora at the Ultimate Soccer Complex in Pontiac, Mich.
