AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Monica Brugnoni collected four hits and Alex Yaw produced three hits and two RBI as Albion College launched the softball season with losses to Westminster (Pa.) College, 11-4, and Husson (Maine) University, 6-5 in eight innings.

Westerminster 11, Albion 4
Yaw contributed a two-run single in the third as Albion trailed, 5-4. Westminster pulled away with three-run innings in the fourth and sixth. Erica Wagner and Kaitlyn Downey also produced RBI for the Britons.

Husson 6, Albion 5
Albion rallied for three runs in the seventh to force the extra inning. Julia Anderson produced the clutch hit in the seventh, sending Elena Luce and Alexis DeLand in to score. Albion stranded the tying run on third in the eighth inning. Brugnoni pitched effectively in relief, yielding two runs on five hits over three innings.

Albion visits the DiamondPlex in Winter Haven, Fla., Monday afternoon for games against Waynesburg (Pa.) and Defiance (Ohio).
