ALMA, Mich. – Jessica Shaw owns the Albion College 1,500-meter record after finishing third in the event during the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Track & Field Jamboree.
Shaw completed the race in 4:43.25. It was a busy day for Shaw, who also finished fourth in the 5,000 meters (18:23.77).
Maicey Peterson was one of four athletes to clear the pole vault bar at 9' ¼", but the tie-breaking procedures moved her to third place. She also scored an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles.
Rhiki Swinton produced a third-place performance in the triple jump, soaring 31' 11 ½".
Albion also received points from Victoria Sochor in a distance event. She finished fifth in the steeplechase (11:52.71).
Albion received a fifth-place performance from Theresa Hencsie with a personal-best time in the 800 meters, seventh-place finishes from Angela Morrison in the 200 meters, Sarah Kirchner in the discus throw, Camille Sawicki in the long jump and Alyssa Wright in the hammer throw, and eighth-place performances from Hollis Washington in the 400 meters and Morrison in the high jump.
Overall, Coach Lance Coleman noted there were 12 personal-best performances by the Britons.
Albion rolled up 511 points to finish fourth in the team standings. Calvin (973 ½), Hope (862 ½) and Alma (640 ½) were the top three teams.
Albion's next meet is the Al Owens Invitational in Allendale, Mich., April 19.
