ALBION, Mich. – Albion College batters collected 12 hits Thursday as the Britons took the field against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Trine University. The visiting Thunder handed the Britons 19-2 and 10-2 setbacks.

Daniels drove in five runs, and Harris and Marshall had four RBI apiece.

Monica Brugnoni hit a RBI single to center field as Albion forged a 1-1 tie in the first inning of game one. Sarah Bucholz hit a RBI single in the fourth, but the Britons stranded runners at second and third and had to settle for a 5-2 deficit.

Trine extinguished Albion's upset hopes by scoring three times in the fifth, once in the sixth and 10 times in the seventh.

Brugnoni finished the day 3-for-5 at the plate. Julia Anderson, Erica Wagner, and Kaitlyn Downey collected two hits apiece for Albion in the doubleheader.

Albion, 2-19 overall and 1-9 against MIAA rivals, plays three of its final four league doubleheaders on the road. The Britons have a Saturday date at Hope College.
