Scoring Early & Often

Box Score

The Albion men's lacrosse team took home a win in its first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest of the season Saturday night, dominating Olivet College 28-4. The Britons are now 7-3 on the season.

Tim Urso led the Britons with 6 goals and 1 assist. Alexander Dziewit added 5 goals and 2 assists. The Britons got production from a wide range of players — Dylan Neal, Cameron Braun, Daniel Kaminski, Dominic Hamper, Brad Bogus, and Zach Hubbell all found the back of the net.

After a high-energy stalemate provided back-and-forth action throughout the first 5 minutes of the game, Joe Braley swung the momentum in Albion's favor by forcing Olivet's Cameron Bazin into a turnover leading to a goal on the opposite end. The Britons took advantage of the swing and extended their lead from 2-1 to 7-2 by the end of the first period.

Albion led 14-4 at the end of the first half and didn't allow Olivet to score for the rest of the game. Kyle Formanczyk had 12 saves, but the Briton defense was perhaps the most impressive unit on the day. The Britons held Bazin, a surefire finalist for the MIAA Player of the Year award, to just one point, while forcing him into five turnovers. Olivet couldn't find a clean look and only took 28 shots all game long, compared to Albion's 53.

The Britons will go in search of their second victory in conference play on Wednesday as they head to Grand Rapids to take on the Calvin College Knights. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
