Britons Rain Goals Down On Trine

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – The liquid precipitation wasn't the only rain falling at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium Thursday night.

It was raining goals, too, as Albion punched its ticket to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Tournament championship game with a 20-5 victory over Trine University. The Britons will travel to Adrian College at 3 p.m. Saturday with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship hanging in the balance.

Albion went on a nine-goal binge over a 15-minute span that stretched between the first and second quarters to pull away for an 11-1 lead. The Britons took advantage of extra-man opportunities, scoring four times. Cameron Braun scored a pair of man-up goals and Alexander Dziewit tacked on a pair of even strength goals.

Zach Hubbell produced his third goal of the first half as Albion took a 13-2 lead to the locker room at halftime.

Dziewit and Dylan Neal netted their third goals of the night in the third quarter and Kevin O'Grady scored twice in the fourth.

Starting goalkeeper Kyle Formanczyk stopped nine of the 12 shots he faced.
