Box Score ALBION, Mich. – Albion College Coach Jerry Block consoled his student-athletes with the message of how close the Britons are to achieving the lofty goals they established before the season after a 4-3 setback to Carroll (Wis.) University at Alumni Field Saturday afternoon.
"I really like where we are (at this point of the season)," Block said. "The most important thing is we had a fantastic effort in the second half. We can build on anything as long as the effort is there."
Bobby Budlong scored his first two goals of the season and Charles Micunek struck for the first time this season as Albion forged a 3-3 tie after trailing 2-0 in the 22nd minute.
Tim Antoniewicz buried a penalty kick with five minutes remaining in regulation for the game-winner. The shot was awarded after the Briton goalkeeper tripped a Carroll attacker in the box.
Albion made halftime adjustments as it held a 12-5 advantage in shots in the second half. Forward Kyle Alsheskie led the Britons with five shots.
Albion, 1-2 against non-league rivals, has a Sept. 10 home date against Elmhurst (Ill.) College. Kickoff is set for 5 o'clock at Alumni Field.
