ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Jessica Shaw raced ahead of the pack in the 1,500 meters and Angela Morrison finished third in her first-ever heptathlon to lead Albion College athletes in the Viking Olympics at Augustana College.
A sophomore from Allegan, Shaw completed the 1,500 in 4:50.18 for a 1 ½ second margin of victory over Nicole Woodall of St. Ambrose.
In the heptathlon events contested Saturday, Morrison turned in the third-best long jump when she reached 15' 8 ¾" on her second attempt. She finished seventh in the throwing events as her best attempt in the javelin sailed 74' and shot put reached 26' 5 ¾".
Albion's final tune up prior to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree is next Saturday. The Britons will travel to Delaware, Ohio for the Marv Frye Invitational.
