Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. - Albion College overcame a double digit deficit in the first half Thursday night, but it was not able to do it again in the second half.
Host Guilford College ripped off an 8-0 run after Albion seized a 37-36 lead late in the first half and it went on to hand the Britons a 70-56 setback.
Kyler Gregory and Carson Long provided two baskets apiece as Guilford went on a 9-0 run to build a 60-43 lead midway through the second half. The Britons were unable to get within 12 the rest of the way.
Albion trailed by 10 with 6 ½ minutes left in the first half, but Darius Branch produced 11 points as the Britons surged to a 33-32 lead with 3:16 on the clock.
The teams exchanged the lead four times before Guilford seized control. Jarrod Rogers scored on the Quakers final two possessions to give his team a 42-37 lead at halftime.
Branch finished with a career high 21 points and Corey Wheeler added 10.
Albion returns to the court Friday with a 3 o'clock game against Greensboro College.
