Britons Ride 'Best Guys' To Victory

ALBION, Mich. – Dylan Neal scored his fourth goal of the night with 52 seconds left to lift Albion College to a 14-13 victory over John Carroll University in non-league men's lacrosse action at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

Neither team would lead by more than a goal from that point.

Connor Pike and Michael Hubert scored goals as John Carroll grabbed an 11-10 lead five minutes into the third quarter.

Albion's offense was slowed by six turnovers in the third quarter, but goalkeeper Jordan Hempfling, who came on in relief, and the defense stepped up as John Carroll came away empty on seven consecutive possessions.

"Assistant Coach Nick DiRado had the vision to see the need to change back to our regular defensive package," Head Coach Jake DeCola said.

Albion never trailed in the fourth quarter. Neal scored three goals in the quarter, the first tying the score at 11 with 11 minutes left. Harrison Palmer scored to push the Britons to a 12-11 lead.

John Carroll scored to tie the game on two occasions in the fourth quarter.

Albion was able to play with the comfort of knowing it would control possession as Kyle DeCamp won 22 of the 29 face-offs in the game.

Braun, Hamper and Hubbell all finished with two goals and two assists. Braun moved into second place on Albion's all-time points ladder with 149 (107 goals and 42 assists). Hempfling made seven saves.

"We leaned on the guys we want to count on. They had great days," DeCola said. "We handled the physical matchups."
