ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Zach Hubbell scored four of his five goals in the second half and Brad Bogus collected 14 saves in his first collegiate start at goalkeeper as Albion College rallied for a 10-8 victory over Augustana College in a non-league men's lacrosse contest.
Scott Davis scored twice and Nick Gallo produced a goal and two assists as Augustana owned a 7-2 lead at halftime.
"Our mission was to chip away one goal at a time," Albion Head Coach Jake DeCola said. "We struggled with turnovers early, but I felt good knowing we were strong in the clear and doing well in goal."
With Cameron Braun and Dylan Neal providing senior leadership and Hubbell pouring in goals, Albion indeed chipped away.
"Dylan and Cameron kept us in a good place and Zach reminded us to loosen up," DeCola said. "Then all three guys led the way on the field by doing the right things at the right time. Their attitude was contagious."
Hubbell and Neal scored extra-man goals as Albion seized a 9-8 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Hubbell tacked on his final goal with 2:40 to play.
Neal finished with two goals and two assists and Braun contributed two goals and one assist. David DiRado also scored a goal for the Britons.
Albion's final non-league test is an April 5 home game against Elmhurst College.
