HOLLAND, Mich. – Cameron Braun scored seven goals to become Albion College's all-time leader and power the Britons to a 19-8 victory over Hope College.
In the process, Albion (10-4 overall and 6-0 against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals) clinched at least a share of the MIAA men's lacrosse championship for the second consecutive year and secured the top seed for the league tournament.
Albion completes the regular season Friday night at 7 with a home contest against Olivet College.
"Cameron has been a consistent force on offense all year," Head Coach Jake DeCola said after Braun reached 140 goals for his career at Albion to pass Tim Urso's previous mark of 137. "Cameron is a great kid and we are proud of him."
DeCola noted Harrison Palmer "found his groove" in scoring a career-high five goals.
John Cooke and David DiRado added two goals apiece for the Britons.
Defender Dave Brown held Gunnar Elder, Hope's leading scorer, to one goal. Gino Battaglia, Grant Brogan and Peter Osterink finished with two goals apiece for the Flying Dutchmen. Albion goalkeeper Brad Bogus stopped 12 of the 19 shots he faced.
"Eventually they tried to sub Elder on the midfield, but Dave hunted him down," DeCola said.
