Box Score 2 ANDERSON, Ind. – Albion College defeated Franklin College (25-14, 25-15, 25-21) and Anderson University (20-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-11) to complete a 4-0 weekend and win the Anderson Invitational championship.
The Britons committed just seven hitting errors in the first two sets against Franklin. Taylor Rosenthal finished the contest hitting .320 with 11 kills in 25 attempts. Stephanie Thurner chipped in with nine kills and Lauren Outwater added eight kills and three blocks.
Albion started slowly against Anderson, hitting .089 in the first set with 13 kills and 9 errors in 45 attempts. The Britons surged, hitting .316 (17-5-38) in the second set and .400 (13-3-25) in the fourth. Three Britons reached double figures in kills with Thurner hitting .548 (17-0-31), Marie Pregenzer hitting .400 (11-3-20) and Taylor Rosenthal hitting .355 (14-3-31). Rosenthal added five blocks.
Setter Ami Milligan and libero Monica Shuk were all-tournament selections. Milligan dished out 141 assists and hit .467 and Shuk collected 102 digs in the four matches.
Next up for Albion is the start of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. The Britons have a date with the nationally ranked team from Calvin College Wednesday night in Grand Rapids.
