Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Christian Hurtado scored his first goal since Sept. 13 and Erik Vanfossen his first of the season to boost Albion College to a 2-0 victory over Kalamazoo College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's soccer action Wednesday night.
"The guys were very good tonight," Head Coach Wytse Molenaar said after the Britons improved to 6-7-4 overall and 3-7-3 against MIAA rivals. "They took responsibility, were composed when needed and battled when that was required. I'm very proud of their spirit tonight."
Hurtado, Albion's leading scorer for the season, tucked a shot from 20 yards out into the top corner of the net in the 34th minute. It was his fourth goal of the season.
Vanfossen chipped a shot from 30 yards out over Kalamazoo goalkeeper Brad Carlson.
The scoring was enough for first-year goalkeeper Maximilian Loria. He collected two saves to earn his third career shutout.
Albion will complete the season with a Saturday night contest against Calvin College in Grand Rapids.
