GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Angela Morrison produced 23 points as Albion College finished fourth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Indoor Track & Field Championship.
The senior from Westland, Mich., was the second-leading scorer in the meet. She finished second in the triple jump at 34/ 5 ½", third in the high jump (5' ¼") and 60-meter hurdles (9.42) and sixth in the 200 meters (27.45 seconds) and 400 (school record 1:01.93).
Albion finished the day with 85 points. Calvin rolled up 194 ½ to earn the league title. Hope College was second with 106, followed by Trine University with 94.
Albion's lone individual event champion was Nia Thomas. She sailed 17' 9 ½" – a MIAA record – to win the long jump.
Maicey Peterson contributed 13 points, gaining the silver medal when she cleared a school record 10' 2" in the pole vault and finishing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.46).
Jessica Shaw logged 8,000 kilometers in finishing third in the 5,000 (18:01.77) and fourth in the 3,000 (10:37.93).
Emilee Kinney reached the final in the 60-meter sprint, finishing sixth with a school record of 8.18 seconds.
T'Ana Smith joined Morrison in the 60 hurdles final, finishing sixth in 9.82 seconds.
Khaila Royster performed well in the triple jump, achieving seventh place and a personal record of 33' 6 ¾".
Ikpemesi Ogundare and Sarah Kirchner were Albion's top performer in the throwing events. Ogundare was fourth in the shot put (36' 1 ½") and Kirchner finished seventh in the weight throw (44' 1").
