ANDERSON, Ind. - Albion College excelled in the relay events, winning the 4x200 and finishing second in the 4x400, as it racked up 117 ½ points in the Anderson University Indoor Invitational.
The Britons finished third out of six teams in the meet, but they were just 1 ½ points behind first place Manchester University.
The 4x200 team led consisting of senior Angela Morrison and sophomores Emilee Kinney, Tyra Thomas-Spratley and Nia Thomas achieved a school-record time of 1:48.06. Thomas also competed in the 4x400 (with Alyssa Barnett, Emily Kinser and Aurora Lobatos), and the Britons set a time of 4:28.83.
Individually, Thomas soared 16' 11 ½" to win the long jump.
Albion picked up second place performances in a number of events, including the triple jump (T'Ana Smith), 5,000 meters (Leaha Sinnaeve in a personal record time of 19:22.08), 60 hurdles (Maicey Peterson), 400 meters (Barnett) and 800 meters (Alicia Medrano).
McKenna Donahue achieved a personal record of 43' 6" in a fourth place finish in the weight throw.
In Friday action, Morrison racked up 3,176 points to finish third in the pentathlon in a meet hosted by Hillsdale College. She achieved a personal record in the shot put and matched her personal best in the high jump.
Albion will be in action again on Feb. 10 when it travels to Grand Rapids for a meet at Aquinas College.
