Albion Secures Outright MIAA Championship

OLIVET, Mich. – Albion College was determined to win an outright Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship Friday afternoon.

Drew Harm scored five goals, Brandon Lebioda added three goals and two assists, John Cooke produced three goals and an assist and Zach Hubbell chipped in with two goals and four assists as Albion routed Olivet College, 17-9, to complete an undefeated run through its MIAA rivals for the third year in a row.

As league champion, Albion will have home field advantage for the MIAA Tournament which begins Thursday.

Hubbell and Lebioda scored as Albion built a 2-0 lead and never trailed. Drew Harm scored goals 15 seconds apart late in the first quarter as Albion extended the margin to 5-2.

Harm and Hubbell struck again as Albion pushed the lead to 7-2 two minutes into the second quarter.

Hubbell now has 50 career assists, moving him into fifth all-time at Albion and only one shy of Cameron Braun's fourth-place total.

John Cooke provided three goals in the third quarter and Scott Shepard scored twice in the fourth.
