DiRado's OT goal lifts Albion past Otterbein

Box Score

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – David DiRado scored the game winner as Albion College won the longest game in the nine-year history of its men's lacrosse program.

DiRado's goal 1:10 into the third overtime lifted Albion to a 9-8 victory over Otterbein University.

"We played hard and that was just an awesome game for us to be involved in," Albion head coach Jake DeCola said. "There is a time in a season where things just need to come together and today was that kind of game for us."

Paul Lewis scored twice, Brandon Lebioda assisted on goals by John Cooke and Alec Palmer, and Harrison Palmer and Thomas Hernandez tacked on unassisted goals as Albion led, 6-2, at halftime.

Lebioda scored an unassisted goal and he assisted on Alec Palmer's second goal as Albion led 8-3 midway through the third.

Joe Sanfillipo scored three goals, the last with a minute left in regulation, as Otterbein forced overtime.

Goalkeeper Trevor McManus came up big for Albion in overtime with five saves, including four in the first extra period. McManus finished the day with 25 saves overall as Otterbein was credited with 19 more shots than the Britons.

"Our seniors were very good for us and Trevor was unreal with those 25 saves," DeCola said.

Albion, 2-4 overall, has a week until its next contest. The Britons host Aurora University Sunday, March 25, for a 2 p.m. face-off at the Davis Athletic Complex.
