Box Score ALBION, Mich. – Trevor McManus was outstanding, making 17 saves, but he didn't receive enough scoring from the offense in the second half as Albion College fell to Aurora University, 8-6, in a non-league men's lacrosse contest at the Davis Athletic Complex.
Aurora, now 6-1 on the year, came in averaging 15 goals per game, a figure that was 17th-best among Division III teams.
With McManus stopping some Aurora shots from close range, the Spartans were held to less than 10 goals for the second time this season.
Boosted by two goals by Thomas Hernandez, Albion held a 5-3 lead at halftime.
Aurora clamped down on the Albion offense in the second half, giving the Briton attackers little space to operate. Ryan Lemanski beat the pressure late in the third quarter for an Albion goal that tied the score at 6-6.
Ben Arends scored his second goal of the contest 41 seconds into the fourth quarter and Joe Brandolino added his second goal of the day about a minute later as Aurora completed the scoring.
Albion generated some scoring chances in the fourth quarter, but shots by Hernandez, Paul Lewis and Scott Shepard all clanged off the post.
Albion, 2-5 on the year, completes the non-league portion of the season with a 5 p.m. Saturday home game against Elmhurst (Ill.) College.
